India to Host World’s Largest AI Summit: India AI Impact Summit 2026 Ushers in a New Era of Global Innovation | Bharattone

New Delhi, January 31, 2026 — In a landmark moment for Bharat’s technological ascent, the nation is set to host the India AI Impact Summit 2026, widely regarded as the world’s largest artificial intelligence gathering. Scheduled from February 16 to 20 at the iconic Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, the summit will bring together leaders from over 100 countries, including 15+ Heads of State and Government, 40+ Ministers, and more than 100 global CEOs and CXOs. This five-day extravaganza marks the first-ever global AI summit hosted in the Global South, shifting the focus from mere discussions to tangible, people-centric impact.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the event on February 19-20, underscoring Bharat’s vision of AI as a force for humanity, inclusivity, and sustainable progress. Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw has hailed the overwhelming global response, describing it as “phenomenal” and positioning the summit as “the biggest in the world” in terms of participation by heads of state, governments, and industry leaders. “The response from practically 100 countries… this is going to be the biggest AI summit so far,” Vaishnaw stated, adding that sovereign indigenous AI models are in advanced stages and expected to be unveiled during the event.

Organized under the IndiaAI Mission by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the summit revolves around three guiding “Sutras” — People (AI serving humanity with dignity), Planet (environmental stewardship), and Progress (equitable benefits) — and seven thematic “Chakras” covering human capital, inclusion, safe & trusted AI, science, resilience, innovation, democratizing resources, and AI for economic and social good.

The India AI Impact Expo 2026 will be a major highlight, featuring 300+ exhibitors from India and 30+ countries across 10+ thematic pavilions, showcasing AI solutions for global challenges in healthcare, agriculture, education, sustainability, and governance. Expecting over 1.5 lakh visitors, the expo will spotlight “Best of the Global South” research and innovations.

Vaishnaw emphasized the economic momentum, noting that India’s current $70 billion AI infrastructure investments could double around the summit. “ROI doesn’t come from creating a very large model; 95% of work can happen with models of 20 or 50 billion parameters,” he remarked, highlighting Bharat’s pragmatic approach to scalable, sovereign AI.

Global Heavyweights Join Bharat’s Call

Confirmed participants include tech titans such as Sundar Pichai (Google), Demis Hassabis (Google DeepMind), Jensen Huang (NVIDIA), and potentially Sam Altman (OpenAI), alongside leaders from Anthropic, Adobe, Salesforce, Qualcomm, and others. The summit builds on previous global forums like the AI Safety Summit (UK), AI Seoul Summit (South Korea), and AI Action Summit (France), but with a unique Bharat-led emphasis on inclusive, responsible AI for the developing world.

Pre-summit events have already engaged over 3 million participants through 480+ gatherings, with challenges like AI For All, AI By Her, and YUVAi inviting global innovators to propose pilot-ready solutions.
